Explora Journeys — Mediterranean
Small ship. Under 1,000 guests. You're pulling into ports most big ships can't reach, eating at restaurants that don't feel like a buffet situation, and spending your sea days at an ocean-front terrace suite with nobody fighting you for a lounge chair. This one converts the "I only do boutique hotels" crowd every single time.

Virgin Voyages — Caribbean
No kids on board. A rooftop bar with a DJ at sunset. Tattooed bartenders making mezcal cocktails while you sail past [insert destination]. This is the sailing for the person who hears "cruise" and immediately pictures a conga line. It's not that.

Silversea — Alaska
Floor-to-ceiling windows. Butler service. Pulling up to glaciers with a drink in hand while a naturalist explains what you're looking at. For the person who wants Alaska but refuses to do it on a ship with 4,000 people, this is the one I recommend.

Ours came with the unmistakable sound of Scottish bagpipes.

As we stepped off the ship in Edinburgh, we were welcomed by a bagpiper whose music echoed across the harbor. It was one of those moments that instantly gave you goosebumps.

After nearly two weeks of exploring Iceland’s waterfalls, whales, volcanoes, charming fishing villages, the Faroe Islands, the Shetland Islands, and the Scottish Highlands, this felt like the perfect farewell.

This itinerary gave me so much more than beautiful scenery. It introduced me to places I’d never imagined visiting, cultures I was excited to learn about, and memories I’ll carry with me for a lifetime.

That’s the beauty of travel—it stays with you long after you’ve unpacked your suitcase.
